Walker House Historic Site Rescue |
|
The Walker House is an historic hotel located in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. It had been closed for over 20 years when Joe & Sue Dickinson sold their home in the Seattle area, moved to Mineral Point, purchased the hotel in 2005, and refurbished and reopened it. Joe & Sue had no prior hotel or restaurant management experience, but through a lot of hard work and at great expense were able to open the hotel for business. However, hotel has become a casualty of the recession of 2008-2009, and Joe & Sue sadly recently had to close the hotel. They are now seeking donations and "micro-loans" to raise the $200,000 it will take to reopen the hotel. (They have many times that much invested in it.) The hotel is in good shape and is ready to reopen, but they need to repay creditors and restock food and liquor supplies before they can reopen. You can help preserve this historic Americana site by making small (or large!) donations at Walker House Donations. Joe is a personal friend of Hal's, so you'll get double appreciation (from Hal as well as Joe & Sue) for your donation or "micro-loan"! |
